Autumn 2018: The Inspiration behind the collection

JULY 2018

This season we take a look at our studio mood boards as the starting seeds for this Autumn's collection, but these boards were not only our starting points...

The inspiration - Isabella Bird, a remarkable woman Isabella Bird was born in 1831 in Yorkshire – the daughter of a clergyman. The illnesses that had plagued her childhood had continued into adulthood and she suffered from insomnia and depression. In her mid twenties, her doctor recommended that she travel to aid her well being. And so a lifetime of pioneering travel followed – she journeyed to North America, Japan Korea and China, India, Persia and Kurdistan to name a few.

Drawing from Isabella’s countless photographs and writings from her travels, this season our collections have a distinctly global and glamorous sophistication. Taking inspiration from China and Japan to India and Persia, these beautiful designs offer a wonderfully exotic and contemporary nomadic flavour that chimes effortlessly with today. Discover a rich and wondrous palette of rose and ochre, saffron and moss alongside birch, celadon and linen. New shapes and geometric pattern add structure in the shape of hexagons and tiles while contrasting textures of taffeta, crushed velvet and tweed add warmth, depth and interest.

Stay tuned for this collection to be unveiled soon...!
