OUT OF THE BLUE EXHIBITION SERIES | VENETIAN

As part of our ‘Out of the blue’ exhibition series we are sharing spotlights from our exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum. This week, we explore our journey further.

‘People say you are what you eat, but in my opinion – you are what you see.’ Tricia Guild’s desire to captivate all aspects of her travels, have shone through in her tastes and style and thus her work.

Tricia Guild’s passion for Italy has endured over the many years of travelling throughout the country. She was immensely inspired by the art of the Italian Renaissance & luxurious silk from Venice.

Her ever-open eyes would absorb, edit and eventually translate their effects into her work.

In the early 2000s, she set about reinventing the idea of classical Venetian design. ‘Fioravanti’ (2004) was one of our first flocked wallpaper designs - and still available today. We then delved into offering an eclectic mix of jacquard silk weaves ‘Coromandel’ and ‘Samarkand’ - launched in 2005 & 2006.

The result - collections inspired by a unique corner of the globe, creating a new contemporary elegance.

Head to the Fashion and Textile Museum for more info - exhibition running until 21st February 2021.
