The long weekend is just days away and plans are underway for precious moments spent with family and friends – long walks, Easter egg hunts and hopefully time enjoyed in the garden. Less formal than Christmas, Easter festivities also include celebrating the arrival of spring, the sense of new life and new beginnings – and here are a few of our favourite, simple ideas for entertaining this Easter -
Use colourful linen to dress your table. Try different shades of one colour group – such as napkins in delft blue, turquoise and indigo, or, for a really fresh look then brighter shots of zingy citrus shades look fantastic when combined with crisp white.
Green is a natural choice for a spring table as it perfectly reflects the spirit of the season. It is not only with the table linen that you can bring vibrant green to the table, we love masses of flowers – great in lots of different glass vessels, an eclectic look that shows the green stems and leaves –carry this through to a handful of fresh mint scattered in glass water jugs.
Hang strips of fabric to the trees and tie them to the branches of shrubs and plants in your garden, this creates an instant party atmosphere and looks beautiful – simply cut fabric strips of 4cm wide, this can be done without precision, in fact it looks better with raw, frayed edges. When guests stay into the evening then tie strips of fabric around jam jars for candleholders – ribbon and coloured string can also work well, contrast a few different coloured threads together.
